This Privacy Policy describes how Critter Connect LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you use the Critter Connect mobile application (available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store) and the website at critterconnect.net (collectively, the "Service").
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

A. Information You Provide Directly
- Account information: name, email address, username, password, phone number, profile photo, and (for shelters/organizations) organization name, address, and verification details.
- Animal listings: photos, descriptions, location (city/region or approximate), health/behavioral notes, and other details you choose to include.
- Messages and communications: content of messages you send to other users or to us.
- Adoption applications and related information you submit.
- Any other information you voluntarily provide (e.g., feedback, support requests).
B. Information Collected Automatically
- Device and usage data: IP address, device type, operating system, browser type, unique device identifiers, app version, pages viewed, features used, and timestamps.
- Location data: approximate location (derived from IP address) or precise location if you grant permission (used to show nearby animals or improve matching).
- Cookies and similar technologies: we and our service providers may use cookies, pixels, and local storage to remember preferences, analyze usage, and keep you logged in.
C. Information from Third Parties
- If you sign in with a third-party service (e.g., Apple, Google), we may receive basic profile information from that service.
- Publicly available information or information from verification partners (for shelters/organizations), if applicable.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information beyond what is necessary for the Service (e.g., we do not request Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, or precise health data about users).
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service (including allowing you to create profiles, list animals, browse listings, message other users, and submit adoption applications).
- Facilitate responsible rehoming by connecting individuals, shelters, and organizations.
- Authenticate users, prevent fraud, and enforce our Terms and Conditions.
- Communicate with you about your account, listings, messages, adoption inquiries, or Service updates.
- Improve the Service, develop new features, and analyze usage trends.
- Personalize your experience (e.g., showing relevant nearby animals).

We do not sell your personal information.

- With other users: Profile information, animal listings, and messages you choose to share are visible to other users of the Service as needed for rehoming. Guests can view public listings without an account.

These providers are contractually required to protect your information and use it only for the services they provide to us.
- Legal and safety reasons: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, or property, investigate fraud, or enforce our Terms.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
